Have you ever noticed how easy it is to focus on what's going wrong? One rainy day can make us forget a whole week of sunshine. One stubbed toe can seem to outweigh nine perfectly good ones! Sometimes life has a way of drawing our attention to problems rather than blessings.

King David must have known that feeling, which is why Psalm 145 is such a refreshing change of pace. Instead of dwelling on life's frustrations, David lifts his eyes to the goodness of God. He reminds us that "The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love."

What wonderful words to carry with us each day!

Our God is not waiting for us to make a mistake so He can shake His head in disappointment. He is a loving Father who delights in showing mercy, extending grace, and helping His children back to their feet. As Psalm 145 says, "The Lord upholds all who are falling and raises up all who are bowed down."

That is good news for all of us, because if we're honest, we've all had days when we've stumbled. Sometimes we trip over our own feet, sometimes over life's unexpected obstacles, and occasionally over that one step we've climbed a hundred times before! Thankfully, God's grace is steadier than our balance.

This week, I encourage you to become a "blessing hunter." Look for little reminders of God's goodness throughout your day. Notice a beautiful sunrise, the laughter of a grandchild, a cool summer breeze, a kind word from a friend, or an unexpected phone call. Every one of these moments is a gentle reminder that God is still caring for His creation—and for you.

Better yet, be a blessing for someone else. Share an encouraging word, offer a helping hand, write a note, or simply smile at someone who looks like they need one. Joy has a wonderful habit of multiplying when we share it.

No matter what this season of life brings, remember that our God is gracious, merciful, patient, and faithful. He has not stopped loving you, and He has certainly not stopped walking beside you.

May your days be filled with laughter, your heart with hope, and your eyes with countless reminders of God's goodness. And if you happen to trip over your own shoelaces this week, remember—you'll be in good company, and our gracious God will be there to help you back up!

Grace and peace,

Pastor Jim
