Have you ever walked into a room and forgotten why you went there? Opened the refrigerator three times hoping something new would magically appear? Or promised yourself you were only going to eat one cookie...only to discover the cookie jar somehow became much lighter?

If so, welcome to the club!

The Apostle Paul reminds us in Romans 7 that even he struggled with doing what he wanted to do. He honestly admits, "I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I do." It's one of the most refreshing passages in Scripture because Paul doesn't pretend to have it all together.

The good news is that God doesn't expect us to be perfect before He loves us. He already does.

Every day we have opportunities to make mistakes. We lose our patience, worry more than we pray, or say something we wish we could take back. Thankfully, God's grace is always bigger than our "oops!" moments. His mercy is fresh every morning, and His invitation to begin again never expires.

The Christian life isn't about never stumbling—it's about knowing who will help us get back up. Jesus meets us with forgiveness instead of condemnation, hope instead of despair, and love instead of disappointment.

Paul ends this passage with joyful words that are worth remembering every day: "Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!" That is our hope.

We don't rely on our own strength—we rely on God's amazing grace.

So this week, if things don't go quite as planned, don't lose heart. Smile, say a prayer, and remember that God is still at work in your life. His grace is stronger than your weaknesses, His love is deeper than your failures, and His joy is always available.

After all, we're not perfect people—we're people being lovingly shaped by a perfect Savior.

May your week be filled with laughter, hope, and the wonderful assurance that God's grace is always enough.

Grace and peace,

Pastor Jim
