Have you ever noticed that some people can talk about anything for hours? Ask them what time it is, and they'll explain how the clock was invented! Of course, as a pastor, I probably shouldn't say too much about people who love to talk. After all, I do get a microphone on Sunday mornings!

But in 1 Thessalonians 2:1–8, the Apostle Paul reminds us that sharing God's love involves much more than talking about it. It means actually living it!

Paul tells the Thessalonians that he cared so deeply for them that he shared not only the gospel but his very life. He didn't just show up, preach a sermon, collect a few compliments, and head home for Sunday dinner. He built relationships, shared their struggles, and genuinely loved the people God placed in his life.

Now there's a wonderful lesson for all of us!

Sometimes we make being a Christian more complicated than it needs to be. We think we need to know every Bible verse, have all the answers, or serve on seventeen church committees. And let's face it, surviving seventeen committees might require a miracle all by itself!

But sharing God's love can be wonderfully simple. A phone call to someone who's lonely, a meal for a struggling neighbor, a smile for a stranger, or a kind word to someone having a difficult day can make an enormous difference.

As United Methodists, we believe God's grace is always working in our lives, helping us grow in love. And the wonderful thing about grace is that there's always enough to share. Unlike the cookies at coffee hour, God's grace never runs out!

So here's my cheerful little challenge for this month: Don't just tell someone that God loves them. Find a way to show them!

Make that phone call. Offer that helping hand. Share that smile. And maybe even forgive that person who has been getting on your last nerve. Yes, even that person!

Remember, we may not all be great preachers, but every one of us can deliver a powerful sermon through kindness.

Let's make our church and community places where God's love isn't just something people hear about on Sunday mornings but something they experience every day of the week.

After all, a little less talk and a whole lot more love might be exactly what this world needs!

Keep smiling, keep loving, and keep sharing God's amazing grace!

Grace and peace,

Pastor Jim
